Garth Brooks' Birthday Cake

According to wife and cookbook author, Trisha Yearwood, Garth’s favorite birthday cake is German Chocolate with Coconut Icing and plenty of it. I understand that she usually makes two batches of the gooey icing and that makes Garth happy. Though they now live in Oklahoma, there are plenty of good Southern recipes from Georgia and Tennessee that are served in that kitchen. Not only is Trisha a fabulous singer, she’s a magnificent cook.

I have been around Garth a few times and he’s always such a gentleman and so humble. I remember when our friend Carl Perkins died and Garth led a chorus of George Harrison, Wynona and Billy Ray Cyrus as they sang ‘Mr. Blue Suede Shoes’ right on into heaven. It sounded like a band of angels.

A piece of German Chocolate Cake in one hand and a glass of ice cold milk in the other would be the most balanced diet imaginable, don’t you think? Cheers Garth, February 7th is yours to enjoy! Happy Birthday.
