Halloween is my white lab, Senator’s, birthday so he is hosting a giveaway – a Wine Set made by the oldest glass factory in France, La Rochere, which was founded in 1475, 17 years before Christopher Columbus set foot in the Americas!
Inspired by an official travel set belonging to Napoleon, the Wine Set is adorned with a 3-dimensional bee. This classic clear glass is very sturdy making it suitable for everyday use. Its design makes an elegant table setting.
Bee glassware is adorned with embossed honey bees, the traditional symbol of French royalty. They will make great conversation starters and since they’re nicely weighted molded glass, they aren’t likely to tumble. This French import is dishwasher safe.

Honey Muffins
Honey muffins, moufflets a la miel de sarrasin, are perfect for with café au lait for a rich, delicious breakfast or brunch. Honey retains moisture and adds viscosity in rich cakes as it provides color. A natural preservative, honey also prolongs the shelf life of homemade sauces and pickles. Store honey in a dry cool place; do not refrigerate.
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 egg
1 cup milk
¼ cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
1/3 cup honey (clover, buckwheat or other varietal honey)
Preheat an oven to 400F. Grease 8 extra-large or 12 standard muffin cups, and set them aside.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. In a medium bowl, beat the egg into the milk. Add the honey to the warm butter and stir for about 15 seconds to melt the honey a bit, and then add the honey butter to the milk and egg. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until the batter is moistened. Take care not to over mix, as this will result in a tough muffin.
Fill the prepared muffin cup 2/3 full with the batter, dust with a sprinkle of cinnamon if you like and then bake for 15 minutes, until the muffins are a light, golden brown. Cool in the pan for 2 minutes, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Makes 8 extra-large or 12 standard-sized muffins.
