Homemade Ice Cream in a Baggie - Ingredient and Toping Bar

Fun for kids or for everyone - especially at a holiday picnic. Have an ingredient bar set up and let everyone add their own favorites - chocolate chips, crushed spearment, strawberries, crushed/chopped candy bars and/or cookies, pineapple, cinammon, brown sugar, etc.  Then add a topping bar - sliced berries, hot fudge, bananas, cubes of pound cake, caramel sauce, kahlua or other liquers for adult tastings, chunks of brownies, toasted coconut, etc. When you're through, just throw the baggie away. Let the fun begin!
1-1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup milk or half & half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 sandwich-size zip-loc bag
1 gallon size zip-loc bag
2 tablespoons rock salt
ice cubes
Put in a sandwich-size zip-loc bag; sugar, milk or half & half and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Close bag tightly.
Put in gallon size zip-loc bag; rock salt, the filled sandwich bag with mix, and ice cubes to fill the bag about 3/4 full.
Shake and roll filled bag over and over until frozen; about 15-20 minutes
Hints
Crushed ice works better if you have it on hand.
You may add fruits or flavorings if you desire.
As the ice melts it does leak a little so do outside.

We've done this before - the kids had a lot of fun making it.
