Sautéed Green Beans with Garlic and Walnuts - the perfect side dish for your Christmas table!
Sautéed Green Beans with Garlic and Walnuts
So simple, so good, and so pretty – the perfect side dish for your table, Christmas or not!
1 pound fresh green beans, stringed and snapped
4 garlic cloves, separated
1/2 cup of walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup French® Fried Onions
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Sea Salt and fresh cracked black pepper
Place walnuts, 2 finely sliced cloves of garlic, and onions on a greased cookie sheet and mix; add butter and toss; arrange in a single layer as best you can. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, checking and stirring frequently. Remove from oven; salt and pepper to taste; and set aside.
Steam beans for 3-4 minutes. Drain beans and place in an ice bath to stop cooking process. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add 2 finely diced cloves of garlic and sauté till slightly brown. Add green beans and continue cooking until beans are warm and crisp or 5-7 minutes. Add a little more oil if needed. To serve place green beans on a platter; salt and pepper to taste; and scatter the walnut mixture down the center.
NOTEL Fresh green beans are so delicious! The canned version will not work in this recipe and the frozen ones will work, but have a preservative taste to them, which I don’t like.
