Whistling Dixie Chess Squares
These ooey- gooey squares of Heaven will melt you into oblivion at first bite. You’ll be whistling Dixie and never question the sweetness of a Southerner’s kitchen, especially during the holidays.
1 box yellow cake mix1 stick butter
1 egg, well-beaten
Mix together and pat into 9 by 13 inch pan.
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
3 eggs, well-beaten
1 (16-ounce) box powdered sugar
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
Cream together. Pour mixture over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes, no longer - you want that ooey-gooey appeal!
While the dish is cooling, sprinkle a little confectioner's sugar over the top. Cut into squares and serve, you’ll be whistling Dixie in no time. (This is one of the few times, I will use a cake mix.)
