Brown Sugar Chess Pie
The brown sugar makes this classic Southern dessert even
more decadent! All mama’s little babies
are going to love this at first bite.
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornmeal
1 stick butter, melted
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 unbaked pie shell, homemade makes a big difference
Melt butter; all sugars and beat. Add the remaining ingredients and stir (don't beat.) Pour into pie
shell and bake 45 minutes or until set at 325 degrees. If edges are browning,
cover with foil. Remove from oven, place on wire rack to cool. Slice and enjoy.
Makes 1 large pie.

I'll have to try this. Chess pie is our 3 sons favorite pie. Two of them have a strange preference about chess pies though: they prefer them when I goof and they turn out runny. But they do seem to always eat the firm ones too!
Is this the same as pecan pie without the pecans? I have never heard of Chess Pie but that is what the picture looks like to me.
No Michelle, it's similar, but Chess Pie is one of the oldest of Southern traditional desserts. The pecan pie always has syrup and this pie does not. If you like pecan pie I think you would like this. Hope you enjoy!
Coming from Australia, i have to ask...whats a 'stick' of butter? How big is it?
Hello all the way in Australia - a stick of butter is 1/2 cup
